Delegates will explore what effective whole school mental health policy looks like and the steps needed to ensure effective implementation and review. Delegates will apply key mental health Department for Education (England) policy within their school, understand the role of the Designated Senior Lead for Mental health, evaluate current practice and use this to create a highly targeted mental health development plan.
On completion of the programme delegates will have grown their capacity and confidence for leading whole school mental health strategies. Delegates will have also developed a deeper understanding of the latest thinking on effective mental health practice and improved their ability to identify children at risk of poor mental health and the implementation of effective supportive strategies. Delegates will be able to identify and implement improvement strategies and form a professional network of peers who are leading mental health in their schools.
The programme is split into three units:
- Unit 1: The Whole School Approach to Mental Health: strategy and practice
- Unit 2. Working effectively: The Designated Senior Lead for Mental Health, governance and key Colleagues
- Unit 3: Leading and embedding change that improves mental health
Format: Online delivery - Three units, launched a month apart with live sessions, pre-recorded video links, resources, moderated development record with individual feedback and certification.
