Challenging the British Asian football exclusion
The second event in the Leeds Cultural Conversations series 2018/19. Presented by Dr Dan Kilvington. The talk will explain how Dr Kilvington's research works towards achieving inclusion by developing policy recommendations and a coaching initiative.

Challenging the British football exclusion A public talk given by Dr Dan Kilvington on 3 October 2018 as part of the Leeds Cultural Conversations series. For more information on the series visit www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/lcc

Football appears to be a meritocratic space. However, this talk, which draws on the oral testimonies of British Asian football communities will demonstrate that systemic racism, overt racism, racio-cultural stereotypes and a lack of role models have excluded British Asians from the game.

Filmed by the Northern Film School.

This event coincides with Black History Month and is part of the Leeds Cultural Conversations series organised by the Centre for Culture & the Arts at Leeds Beckett University.
