Leeds Beckett University’s Dr Oliver Bray will read this timeless Christmas tale to gathered crowds as the sun sets over City Square. You are invited to stay for as long as you like – stop and listen for a few minutes, or get comfortable, enjoy a hot chocolate, and stay for a while. This classic Christmas tale will be read from start to finish over a number of hours.
The magnificent architectural forest of LEEDS 2023’s ‘Making A Stand’ installation will be festively adorned in true Dickensian style, creating the perfect surroundings for this well-loved and magical story.
Dickens himself is thought to have read A Christmas Carol more than 150 times to enraptured audiences, and it was the book he read at his last public performance in 1870.
This performance is a Christmas present from Leeds School of Arts to the people of Leeds and promises to be a real treat for the whole family.
Dr Oliver Bray is a Leeds-based performance maker and the Dean of Leeds School of Arts at Leeds Beckett University.
Attend the reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Friday 8 December from 13:30 at City Square, Leeds, LS1 2ES.
