Leeds Beckett PR graduates invited to help celebrate 25 years
The event will be a chance to hear from industry experts about contemporary PR strategies and to participate in a debate about ‘Fake News’. The debate will be followed by a guest lecture from the Executive Vice-President of Global Corporate Affairs for the InterContinental Hotels Group – Yasmin Diamond.
The celebrations will then continue into the evening with drinks, canapés, speeches and networking.
Dr Ioannis Kostopoulos, Head of PR and Journalism at Leeds Beckett University, who is organising the event, said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for our PR alumni to get together and participate in several talks delivered by their former lecturers and some inspirational external speakers. There’ll also be the chance to take part in an interesting conversation about fake news and the role of PR in the modern world.
“The event will also provide you with a great networking opportunity and the chance to catch up with old university friends and find out what they’re doing now.”
Former student Nina Hands, who is a Co-Director of Content Soup PR Agency in Leeds, said: “The PR course was the grounding I needed to get ahead in the industry. I learnt from the best people and fully embraced the placement scheme to find out how the real world of PR operated.
“I got experience everywhere and anywhere, and fully reaped the rewards as it not only got me a high calibre degree, but also made me really employable.
“Three years ago, me and my friend from the course made the leap and started our own PR agency. We’re a small agency doing big things, picking up awards for our campaigns and working with big national brands. We’re really proud that our success story started on the PR course at Leeds Beckett.”
Leeds Beckett is carrying out twitter polls on the last 25 years of PR – visit @beckettpress to take part.
