Leeds Beckett University has five teams - four men’s and one women’s - that compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).
The men’s first team compete in the new BUCS Super Rugby league for the top eight universities in the country.
The Rugby Union programme allows talented players to hone their skills, with more than 20 athletes going on to sign professional contracts with clubs in the RFU National League structure in recent years.
All players are encouraged to strive to be better and play at the highest standard possible, with a clear pathway to the first team.
Equally, the programme prides itself on catering for all standards and enjoys a strong culture that unites players from all teams.
During the summer months, teams also compete in a variety of 7s competitions - an exciting aspect of the programme which will be developed in the coming years.
Leeds Beckett were BUCS Rugby Union champions in 2014/15 after a 31-23 win over Loughborough at Twickenham, which followed a runners-up finish the previous season.
