Jeremy Clarke

Senior Consultant

Jeremy is a dedicated Montessorian who is energised by working with students who are looking for answers that lay beyond the structures and practices of traditional education.

Jeremy is Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Montessori 0-12 Years accelerated programme. This is his first role at a university, having previously taught on the Diploma courses at Montessori Centre International.

Jeremy has worked in education since 1999, spending the majority of his time in Early Years, but has taught children up to the age of 10 in schools in England. He was privileged to lead the transition at the first state run school in England that adopted the Montessori approach.

Jeremy has a particular interest in the role of the environment in supporting children's emotional development. He is also exploring the impact of educational philosophies on school leadership, which is the focus of his current MRes study.

Research Interests

The central aim of Jeremy's research will look at leaders in Montessori settings and explore which (if any) traits of the Montessori philosophy are explicitly made visible, or evident without leaders' knowledge within their practice.

This research will be of significance to leaders in both Montessori and mainstream settings as it should allow for connections to be drawn between personal philosophies of education, and how leadership can be impacted because of this.
