Information for DSA Assessors

Student Money and Advice have set up a fund to assist those students who may struggle to pay the £200 contribution towards a DSA computer. Students may be eligible to apply, if their household income is less than £25,000 per annum and they are in receipt of the full maintenance loan.

Students who think they are eligible and have received a copy of a DSA award letter are advised to complete the brief online application form (link below).

Leeds Beckett University can provide our students with free downloads of MS Office 365.

Leeds Beckett University provides the following software on university computers. However, these packages are only available for students to use on campus.

  • Mind mapping software: Mind View and Inspiration
  • Study skills software: Read and Write, Claro read and Pro-Study
  • Lecture recording software: Audio notetaker. This software is only available in the Disabled Resource Areas in each library
  • Screen reader and magnification software: Jaws, Zoomtext and SuperNova

A Disabled Resource Area is available at the City and Headingley campuses. Students must be registered with Disability Advice in order to access the

Disability Resource Areas. If students would like an induction to the Disability Resource Areas, they can contact the Learning Support Officer.

Leeds Beckett University has lecture capture facilities in teaching spaces that are utilised by some staff on an ‘opt in’ basis. There are no lecture capture facilities available in other study spaces, for example, group study rooms, tutorial rooms.

The Student Wellbeing Team offers a free and confidential service aimed at providing you with information, practical and therapeutic support to help you manage any difficulties you are experiencing.
