The Student Funding team deal with the administration of student loans such as amending tuition
fees, confirming attendance & sending notification of changes to Student Finance. The below are
some frequently asked questions around the Student Loans processes:

You must match ALL the below criteria before the university can confirm your attendance to release your loan payment. Please check your online Student Finance account & your Leeds Beckett account and ensure that:

• Your student finance application status is at Approved status

• The university listed on your Student Finance application is Leeds Beckett

• The name & date of birth listed on your Student Finance application is the same as your Leeds Beckett record

• You have accepted the terms of the loan by signing the declaration, either online or by paper form (this is mainly done online)

• You have enrolled online with Leeds Beckett

• If you are a new student, you must also complete an ID check.*

*Please note that the ID check must be processed by the school before you are fully enrolled Once you match all the above criteria the university will confirm your attendance electronically. Once the Student Loans Company receives the confirmation of attendance from the University the first instalment will be paid in 3 -5 working days.

If you have been enrolled on your course but have not received the funding into your bank account
after 5 working days, please see the below reasons why this may be:

• Not applying for funding by the published deadlines. Please note that you need to apply for
funding each academic year

• Not sending the information requested by Student Finance for them to process your
application fully

• Not letting Student Finance know of a change of circumstance such as where you are going
to study, or a change of address or bank account details.

• Please note that you will need to contact us by email at StudentFunding@leedsbeckett.ac.uk
with your Student Finance Customer Reference number or Student Support Number, your
student ID number & the university your Student Finance notification shows if you originally
applied for Student Finance at a different University & have not updated your Student
Finance application. We will need to manually confirm your attendance

• Not providing a National Insurance number to Student Finance

• Not providing your bank details to Student Finance

• Delays in the application process

If your Student Finance application is at Approved status and you are still unsure why you have not
received your maintenance payments after reading the above please contact us with your university
ID number and Student Finance customer reference number or Student Support Number at
StudentFunding@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Please note that if you are waiting for Student Finance to
process your application we are unable to change this for you.

For courses which have an option to go on placement there are two versions of the course on the
SLC course database. On your Student Finance application select the ‘Update my Course’ section and
search for the relevant course. You can search using the course name or UCAS code.

For full time, non-placement students the version of the course that you should select will have FT
3YR in the course name and the tuition fee will be set at £9250.

If you intend to go on placement, the version of the course that you should select will have SW 4YR
in the course name and the tuition fee will be set at £1385.

Please ensure you update your Student Finance application to show the correct year of study. You must do this before the start date of your course to ensure that you receive the correct funding amount.

Please update any changes to your Student Finance application prior to starting your course.
This includes the university that you are studying at, the correct course, mode of study, year
of study and fee

• If your course has the option of going on placement this year, please check that your
Student Finance application reflects this. If you are going on placement the course name
should include SW 4YR & the tuition fee will be £1385. If you are not going on placement,
please select the version of the course with FT 3YR in the course name with £9250 fees

• The name & date of birth which you provide to Student Finance must match the name &
date of birth given to the university. Please update any discrepancies

• Apply as early as possible for your funding & provide all requested information as soon as
you can to Student Finance. Your Student Finance application must be at Approved status
prior to payment being made

• When prompted to do so by the university, enrol online

• For new students, complete your ID check when prompted to so by the university. Please
note that the ID check must be processed by the school before you are fully enrolled

It is very important that you update your Student Finance application to show the correct details
before you start your course. Please update any discrepancies as soon as you can as not updating
this information could result in payment delays and incorrect payments being made. Please log on to
your Student Finance account to make the change. Changes to your application include confirming
the correct university that you are studying at, the correct course, mode of study, year of study and
fee. The name & date of birth which you provide to Student Finance must match the name & date of
birth given to the university. If the name and date of birth on your university record is incorrect,
please contact your Course Administrator.

Please note that when a student makes their own changes on their online Student Finance account it
will take 24 hours to update. If the university requests the change it can take up to 6 weeks to be
processed.

If you have started your course but the course or fee details on your Student Finance application are incorrect, we will inform Student Finance of the change. You do not need to contact us to request this unless you originally applied to go to a different University.

Please note that due to the high volume of work at the beginning of the academic year this will not be done straight away.

If you originally applied for funding at a different university you will need to contact us by email at StudentFunding@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with your Student Finance Customer Reference number, your student ID number & the university your application shows if you originally applied for Student Finance at a different University & have not updated your Student Finance application.

We will need to manually confirm your attendance & send a transfer notification.
