There are several well-ingrained assumptions regarding the dynamics of work and business activities, which can be refuted. Some examples of these widespread assumptions in work environments are; employees being viewed as commodities, competitors perceived as threats, companies’ resources seen as limited, and customers perceived as scarce and difficult. These beliefs all lead to the question, "Is there a way to perform business activities more humanely?"
Dr Cignacco challenges us to change the way we perform in business situations and become more focused on the human aspects of business activities, helping us to undergo a profound transformation in the way we execute our businesses.
This approach can affect an organisation’s mission and vision, passion, business mind-set, organisational learning, improvement of business conversations, use of constructive criticism and improvement of relationships with the most relevant stakeholders such as customers and suppliers.
The Leeds Business School annual lecture series invites industry experts, leading business figures and entrepreneurs to speak on a range of subjects that affect businesses including leadership, marketing and finance.
