But who are Rhubarb Radio?

The online station is the brain child of a group of enthusiastic radio professionals who felt that Wakefield and the surrounding area needed a fresh ‘tasty’ new local radio service. We downloaded the app to check it out and sure enough there were some great tunes such as 1970s classics like If I Can’t Have You, through to modern tracks like Little Mix, No More Sad Songs.

With thousands of listeners a week, and a huge online and social media presence in the Wakefield District and South Leeds, the station covers a pretty broad area from its new studio centre based in Ossett close to the M1 motorway.

Why did we decide to partner with them?

Well, a year ago we launched our new University Business Centre in the heart of Wakefield. We were keen to get our name out there and known in the Wakefield District. What better way to let the people of Wakefield know there is a Centre providing a home for their business with a raft of business support, than to team up with Wakefield’s own local radio station?

The station are broadcasting regular commercials about the Centre every day. The partnership also means that we and our business clients can be interviewed for the station’s business review feature. A great benefit if you are a business trying to get your name out there. The University Business Centre is also the Wakefield City Centre home for Rhubarb Radio, providing meeting and interview space for their city meetings.

The station also has a great training suite for students looking to find out more about radio industry.  So if you’re a media student looking for some radio experience, we would encourage you to get in touch with Rhubarb Radio.

We will be on air with our business interview next Wednesday 15th May so be sure to tune in and check it out.
