In May 2023 a group of eight Computer Science students from Leeds Beckett travelled to Nepal for an academic visit. Here they partnered with, and worked alongside students and staff from our partner institution "The British College" (TBC). Both sets of students worked on technical projects together and gained an understanding of the priorities of computing technology in another part of the world.
Sport in India
In April 2023 a group of students and staff from our Carnegie School of Sport visited Pune in India where they worked with our international partners, the International School of Management Studies, and spend time working with disadvantaged children at a local charity run school.
Singapore
In March 2023, the second PTMH study visit to our partners (The College of Allied Educators in Singapore) saw 12 students from our professional courses in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, travel alongside Di Conroy and Dr John Hills. The study visit featured a range of shared workshops with Singaporean students on equivalent courses, with teaching delivered by colleagues from both institutions, and various site visits to community-based counselling organisations. The visit was an opportunity for students at both institutions to gain a greater appreciation for the global contexts of their work and international standards of best practice. Travelling students reported on what was also a significant personal development experience for them.
Sun, sand and Rugby Union
The LBU Rugby Union team went on a short tour of San Diego in March 2023, to play local sides and experience life at an American University. And a group of our Sports Journalism went with them to document the trip. This is some of their resulting work.
Leeds Law School in the Bronx
Four students from the leeds Law School travelled to New York City in the summer of 2023 to spend time at the New York Law School and to work with students there to deliver legal studies classes to high school students in The Bronx.
