Whether you're visiting our City or Headingley Campus, both have great transport links and are easily accessible by public transport. Get all the information you need about travel and parking below.

How to find us

Leeds is a fantastic city for everyone. It’s small enough to get around easily on foot (or on your bike) but also well connected by public transport for when you want to get away.

Our City Campus is very central and spread over several buildings around Woodhouse Lane. We are just a few minutes walk from the main shopping centres, the First Direct Arena and heading out of town, Hyde Park.

Park and Ride Leeds

Park and Ride is an easy and cheap way to travel to Leeds city centre. You only need to pay the bus fare, as parking is free across the three sites: Elland Road, Temple Green and Stourton.

If you're travelling after 1pm or on a weekend, cheaper off-peak tickets are available. Three kids (under 19) travel free, with every fare paying adult.

Journeys into the city centre take between 10-15 minutes.

The nearest stops to Leeds Beckett University city campus are:

  • Elland Road service - alight on Boar Lane (Trinity P), approximately 16 minute walk to the Portland Building (please note, no Sunday service)
  • Stourton service - alight on Lower Briggate (Trinity K), approximately 18 minute walk to the Portland Building
  • Temple Green service - alight on Lower Briggate (Trinity L), approximately 18 minute walk to the Portland Building (please note, no weekend service)

You can catch the Leeds CityBus 5 (free with a Park & Ride ticket) between Boar Lane and Portland Way (on the southern edge of campus).

Parking

Parking in Leeds City Centre is limited and we would recommend that visitors travel via public transport where possible.

For our Undergraduate Open Days and Offer Holder Days we have free parking at our neighbouring institution, the University of Leeds, next to our campus. (800 car parking spaces on  a first-come-first-served basis). Our staff and student ambassadors will be there to meet you and help you find your way to our campus (a 5-minute walk away). Free Parking at University of Leeds: LS2 3AE (for sat nav use “Vernon Road, Leeds” What3words :skill.modest.bricks

There are a number of paid council run and private car parks available in the city centre.

There is also the option to park at our Headingley Campus and get the free university shuttle bus down to City Campus. If doing this, please ensure you allow plenty of time. We advise at least 45 minutes to get from A to B.

There are a number of city centre pay and display car parks located near to our campus buildings. These can get busy during events and we would advise that you use Leeds Travel Info to check available car parking spaces on the day and that you leave plenty of time to find a parking space and walk to the campus.

    Leeds has good motorway links from the M1, M62 and M621 making it easy for your to reach our city. 

     
  2. Arriving on public transport

    The City Campus is just a 15-minute walk from the Leeds train station. For our Undergraduate Open Days and Offer Holder Days we provide free shuttle buses from the station to both campuses.

Making the most of your visit

If you're planning on joining us for study or work, if you have the time, you should try and see a bit of Leeds while you're here, to get a feel for where you could be living. Leeds is a bustling city with a great nightlife and cultural scene. If you are planning to stay over you could see what’s on and make a night of it!

Why not stay for dinner? Leeds City Centre has a great selection of places to eat and drink. Trinity Shopping Centre is a good place to start with everything from TGI Fridays to Wagamama, and the Trinity Kitchen offers a unique mix of vibrant restaurants and street food vans.

If you are coming from further afield and are thinking of staying overnight there are plenty of options in the centre of Leeds, especially around the station.

If you're a student you’ll also probably end up spending a lot of time in Headingley, so you might want to have a look around while you are here. Many students, after moving out of halls, find themselves living in Headingley and it’s easy to see why. It’s connected to the city by a number of regularly running buses (the 23, 24, 26, and 27 all stop outside the Arndale Centre in Headingley) and has its own vibrant community, with an eclectic mix of shops, bars and restaurants.

We're lucky at Leeds Beckett to have access to two huge campuses, which host a share of endless facilities. Whether it's the modern four-story library at City or the state-of-the-art sporting centre at Headingley, both campuses are available to all Leeds Beckett students.

How to find us

Headingley is just three miles outside the centre of Leeds. Our campus is located within 100 acres of parkland, in perfect contrast to the bustling city, so if it is a nice day you can get out and stretch your legs while you are on campus.

You can get to us from Leeds City Centre via the Otley Road/Woodhouse Lane but please be aware this road is a commuter route and gets very busy at peak times.

  1. Arriving by car

    During Open Days and Offer Holder Days, free parking is available on Headingley Campus and can be accessed via St. Chad's Drive. For sat nav please use LS6 3QSWhat3words: spring.jazz.note.

    Leeds has good motorway links from the M1, M62 and M621 and our Headingley Campus is close to the outer ring road (A6120). 

  2. Arriving by public transport

    For our Undergraduate Open Days and Offer Holder Days we provide free shuttle buses from the station to both campuses.

    Headingley Campus is very well connected to the city by a number of regularly running buses:

    • Buses 23, 24, and 27 from Leeds city centre all stop at the Otley Road Opp Glen Road/Church Wood Avenue bus stop, which is a 6-minute walk to the campus entrance, up Church Wood Avenue. Bus 22 from Leeds city centre will take you directly to Headingley campus

Make the most of your visit

Stick around for dinner, there are lots of tasty options in Headingley, from big names like Nandos and Pizza Express to smaller independent eateries like local favourite Thai Sabai.

If you're planning on joining us for study or work and you have the time, you should try and see a bit of Leeds too, to get a feel for where you could be living. Leeds is a busy, vibrant city with lots to do. Have a look at what’s on and make a night of it!

If you are coming from further afield and are thinking of staying overnight there is a Village Hotel very near our Headingley Campus on Otley Road, as well as plenty of options in the centre of Leeds.
