“The course curriculum was cutting edge and was definitely one of the key reasons I chose Leeds Beckett. While we were on the course a group of us worked for a company organising the International Indian Film Awards and, after I handed in my dissertation, I went on to continue to work for them on a range of different events.”

“Leeds as a city was great. I’ve travelled to almost all of the major British cities and I feel Leeds offers the perfect balance. It’s a modern city and has whatever you need, but it isn’t as fast paced or intimidating as London can be, you feel at home in Leeds as soon as you arrive.”

Since graduating Priyank has volunteered to help new students coming to Leeds Beckett from India to prepare for the challenges that studying in a foreign country can bring.

“I work with the India office on the pre-departure briefings for students coming to Leeds from Mumbai. The upbringing in India can be very protective and many undergraduate students will have stayed with their parents while studying. It’s always the parents who are more worried than the students!”

“I want to make sure that students and their families are prepared and know what to expect when they arrive and hearing from someone who has been to Leeds Beckett and is now working in their chosen industry can be both helpful and beneficial.”

Priyank had previously completed an undergraduate degree in business administration, but felt that he wanted to further his knowledge and skills by coming to Leeds Beckett. “I was already working with some of the biggest events management companies in India and had been part of the team that started one of Asia’s biggest music festivals, Sunburn in Goa, which welcomes 100,000 attendees a day over three days. I wanted to study a degree specifically in events management to help me take things even further.”

Priyank now works for Book My Show, which is the market leader in entertainment ticketing in India, from movies to high production value shows. Priyank said: “My team focuses on promoting live events and intellectual properties. We worked on bringing Ed Sheeran’s Divide tour to India, we were the first to bring Cirque du Soleil to the country and we are working on some exciting projects with Marvel, food festivals, and the last concert of U2’s Joshua Tree tour. We’re always happy to be doing firsts in India as a company”

And what is the top piece of advice that Priyank gives to students coming to study here? “You should leave all of your tensions and worries behind. There is an excellent network of support and staff available at the university - it’s a phenomenal experience.”
