We are one of the UK’s largest mobile activity providers which enables us to effectively manage a range of group sizes for DofE expeditions. Each of your teams needs 4 – 7 participants within it to follow DofE guidelines. We will allocate to the overall group instructors to ensure we operate at safe ratios of supervision and management to provide the best experience from planning and practice expeditions right through to completing the qualifying expedition.

CGO is able to support expedition locations in the Lake District (hill/mountain walking or paddling expeditions), North Yorkshire (hill walking expeditions), the Peak District (hill walking expeditions) and Yorkshire Dales & Pennines (hill walking expeditions).

Key location recommendations for the three Awards are:

Bronze Expeditions: At Bronze level the DofE recommendation is that teams should avoid using wild country, unless it is their local area and teams should stay close to home.

Silver Expeditions: At Silver level the expeditions should be in rural, open countryside or forest – which is unfamiliar to groups.

Gold Expeditions: At Gold Level, the DofE guidelines specify that the expedition should take place in ‘Wild Country’.

CGO has an extensive supply of well-maintained kit and equipment for use on DofE expeditions. We can provide:

  • Tents
  • Stoves (Tranchias) and fuel
  • Maps & compasses
  • Rucksack covers
  • Emergency shelters

We encourage participants to use their own personal clothing and equipment where possible for best results and fit. However, we can supply sleeping bags and waterproofs where required to save expenditure.
