Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Studying Marketing Management

I am particularly interested in marketing research as I enjoy researching consumer purchasing habits, current trends and individual preferences and then being able to analyse this and draw appropriate conclusions. Another module I have enjoyed is Digital Marketing, I enjoyed this as it allowed us to be a part of a real life digital marketing simulation. This involved understanding and learning to think about budgeting, alongside what is required to access a high level of engagement from consumers.

After University I hope to have been successful in attaining a high-level degree and I would like to apply the skills that I have learn throughout the duration of my course to a marketing firm that will enable me to continue learning and working towards something I have a huge passion about. I aspire to be successful in the role that I pursue and hope to work my way up the career ladder, I would especially like to specialise in market research in the future as that is what I have a huge passion about most. I would use my degree and experiences to help me to apply and excel my current skills and continue learning new skills along the way. I am excited to apply the skills that I have learnt throughout my course to real life scenarios that I will be faced with in a marketing job.

How will the Professor Bligh Scholarship help?

I find my financial situation difficult as it prevented me from being able to access certain things like a working laptop that is compatible with the university system, this was especially hard when it came to group work as I was unable to access the same materials and software as my course mates and so it prevented me from being able to contribute whilst being at home. I also find that my financial situation requires me to work a lot in my part time job so that I have enough funds to be comfortable whilst being at University. This makes me miss out on social events as I am not able to fund as many things to do due to my financial situation.
