research excellence
REF 2014 SUCCESS
The aim of Unit 13 is to achieve high quality internationally recognised built environment, architecture and planning research that underpins our core strategic aim of contributing to the creation and management of a more sustainable built environment. The results of REF 2014 showed that overall 37 per cent of the Unit’s work is rated as world leading and internationally excellent (4*/3*) while 79 per cent is rated as internationally recognised or above (above 2*).
TOWARDS REF 2021
Unit 13 will continue to pursue high quality built environment, architecture and planning research with quality outputs that underpin a core aim to provide internationally recognised research and built environment education. In addition, our research will be designed to further enhance our external profile and reputation through providing research support to the construction industry and built environment professions. We will signal and highlight the impact of our research within professional areas more widely through the umbrella research structure provided by the Leeds Sustainability Institute. The Unit will focus on building a record of research that is focused on the technological and social aspects of sustainable urbanism and establishing research excellence and research impact across the Unit’s areas of research activity.
