Dr Julia Calver on the role of events in economic recovery
Dr Julia Calver was invited by Shopappy.com to explore how the global pandemic has impacted on towns and city centres.
Shopappy.com recently hosted a live webinar entitled 'The role of events in recovery’ for local authority managers and policy makers. Julia joined fellow panellists Jean Ball SFPIM, Eventful Places; Robin Hutchinson MBE, Creative Youth; Jeremy Rucker, City Dressing and Sarah Smith, Old Bolsover Yard. Insights were shared on the importance of events to support recovery, ideas on virtualisation, creative experiences and the value they can bring to communities and economies. Representatives from over thirty local authorities joined the webinar seeking advice on the challenges of planning events and rejuvenating town centres in the coming months and hear research on future consumer trends in the events sector.
