Dr Jenkins is our Institutional Engagement Manager based within Research England (RE). RE is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), which oversees the functions of UKRI in relation to university research and knowledge exchange in England.

Dr Jenkins met with Directors of Research and key academics to hear about different research and knowledge exchange (KE) projects, and successes. Our Director, Professor Cathy Barnes, kicked off the day with a ‘snapshot’ view of Leeds Beckett University.

A discussion followed on our Research Excellence Framework - REF2021 – submission, before Dr Jenkins led a conversation on the identity and contribution of diverse universities in the RE portfolio - and the requirements of the Knowledge Exchange Concordat (KEC) and the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF).

Before lunch, academics and Directors of Research presented our key research and KE strengths across a number of our university Institutes and Schools. Dr Jenkins commented on the significant and positive impact generated at LBU with small amounts of funding and our strong city and regional partnerships.

Following lunch, discussions moved on to our knowledge exchange activities and projects, including history and scope at LBU, our role as an anchor institution and examples of our different Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects, demonstrating our growth over the last 18 months.

We enjoyed hosting Dr Jenkins at LBU and look forward to future visits from RE and UKRI.
