Launching our Peer Review College
In the autumn of 2024 we provided an update to the success of our pilot Peer Review College (pFPRC) at Leeds Beckett. Throughout 2025 we have focussed on improving the processes and policies that underpin our pFPRC and increasing membership. Here we provide next steps on the formal launch of the college at Leeds Beckett.
What are the key priorities before the launch?
Whilst we have seen an increase in membership of the College, we are seeking to increase these numbers and representation across a wide range of disciplines to support our growing research ambitions.
We are therefore working strategically with our Directors of Research and Knowledge Exchange (DoR&KEs) in our schools to identify suitable candidates for college membership. In parallel, we are updating our guidance documents to ensure they reflect best practice learning from the pilot programme and sector wide considerations, such as from REF 2029. We are also implementing a new workflow to support the College administrations, in our Funding Support Team.
We will continue to work with our DoR&KEs to review membership across schools and develop peer review capacity in schools via increased membership, on an ongoing basis.
When will the College formally launch?
We will have a soft launch of the College in October, during which time we will gather feedback on our progress from colleagues to identify areas for improvement, potential areas of risk and road test our new processes. Once we have implemented the learning, we will formally launch.
How can I be involved and where can I find out more?
If you are interested in joining, the Peer Review College or would like to find out more email us, and for further information on the Pilot please visit our Research and Enterprise intranet.
