Final year undergraduate and postgraduate students have been awarded prizes for a range of academic achievements including best dissertation, best final year project and outstanding contribution across their course.  Many of these prizes are sponsored by professional bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Association for Project Management. Other prizes are sponsored by regional firms such as Stephen George and Partners and long-standing individual supporters of the school. Several prizes are also awarded in honour of lecturers who have sadly passed away but whose contribution to teaching and the student experience will never be forgotten. The prizes themselves are awarded in the form of trophies, certificates, vouchers and monetary donations to the winners.

These awards recognise the highest achievers in our school and connect them with professionals across their chosen field to ensure that their outstanding talent finds a good home for them to start their professional careers. It has been a challenging couple of years, so our winners really do deserve to be recognised for their hard work and commitment. I would personally like to congratulate them all and to thank my colleagues in the school who have been instrumental in supporting our winners through their studies.

The school has established many productive relationships across the industries it represents which is vital in ensuring graduates are prepared for life after a degree, going out into their chosen sectors with the skills and knowledge to excel.

Henrie Westlake, Head of the North at Property Consultants Knight Frank, commented “The school offers an exceptionally diverse range of career paths. The Leeds Market is one of the strongest in the country and we are so pleased to support Leeds Beckett and their Real Estate department. We have worked closely with Beckett for many years and have always been very impressed by the way they prepare their students for real world scenarios. This vocational practical education is what employers want and need.”

Currently I am working towards chartership with RICS, and after that, considering continuing my studies with a part-time Masters degree.”

Will Shield, winner of the Rex Procter Prize for Best Overall Performance in BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying, said “I am overwhelmed and grateful that my five years of hard work have been such a success. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying and Leeds Beckett University, gaining new knowledge and friends for life!”
