Dr Bill Davies on BBC's Sunday Politics Show
Dr Bill Davies appeared on the BBC’s Sunday Politics Show on 1st December.
Dr Davies is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology here at Leeds Beckett and on the show, he questioned politicians about their thoughts on prisons, the current system and the cost of reoffenders.
‘I strongly believe in education being the way to help reduce reoffending and save the taxpayers billions of pounds a year.’
Dr Davies questioned the politicians on the fact that reoffending rates for adult males is currently around 30-40%, which costs the taxpayer £18.1 billion. He asked whether they agreed that this money would be better spent elsewhere.
