Maria O’Reilly organised a panel at the Conflict Research Society conference, held in September in Belfast, on the theme 'Pushing the Boundaries of Peace & Conflict Research: Understanding Conflict through a Feminist Lens Chair'. Her presentation focused on research with women soldiers in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Linda Asquith, Lucy Adams, and Maria O’Reilly spoke at an event organised by the Holocaust Centre North with Remembering Srebrenica Challenging Genocide Denial: Legacies of the Holocaust and Bosnia.  Maria spoke about post-war peacebuilding processes and the important roles that survivors of war and genocide play in promoting peace and justice.

Victoria Halstead, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in voice disorders at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation trust is one of our MRes students with fees funded by PsyCen at LBU and is supervised by Annie Hurren and Professor Georgina Jones. Victoria had an oral presentation of her preliminary data accepted for the Newcastle Voice Conference 13th - 14th September and also a poster presentation accepted about the clinical and research application of the outcome measure used. Victoria is an LBU graduate and is a clinical educator for LBU speech and language therapy students for clinical placements.

Rachel Radford, Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Voice/Head and Neck Oncology/Dysphagia) at Rotherham  NHS Foundation Trust completed an NIHR funded mentorship programme supervised by Annie Hurren and Professor Georgina Jones. Rachel’s research focussed on her clinical work in the NHS and investigated the experience of service users who attended voice therapy via telehealth and face to face in a clinic setting. Rachel’s research findings were presented as a poster presentation at the Newcastle Voice Conference 13th -14th September.
