Leeds is one of the largest cities in the UK and is home to a number of outstanding universities, a diverse range of shopping places, and flavourful cuisines. No matter how many times you visit Leeds, you will never run out of places to go and pleasurable things to do. Here are a couple of my favourite places in Leeds:

TRINITY LEEDS

Located in the heart of Leeds’ city centre, Trinity Leeds is a large shopping centre and leisure complex that offers a wide range of entertainment, food, and retail options. It houses various stores from high-street brands, designer fashion, flagship stores, electronics, and homeware to beauty products. On top of that, it is surrounded by a lot of restaurants, cafes, and food outlets that you can pop into while you explore the place. I always find myself coming in here once in a while to take a break from my studies and to just enjoy the lively atmosphere.

ROUNDHAY PARK

Roundhay Park is proclaimed the crowning jewel in Leeds’ collection of greenery and has been rated to be one of the most beautiful parks in the UK. As one of the largest parks in Europe, this park boasts a very picturesque scenery with its vast space, lakes, and meticulously maintained gardens. Nothing beats the serene atmosphere that you get to enjoy when you are in the park whether it be just by yourself or with friends or family. There is just something about connecting with nature that never fails to make you feel relaxed. My friends and I enjoyed walking around, taking pictures, and listening to good music while we sat on the grass.

WOODHOUSE MOOR

If you find the Roundhay Park to be quite a trip, you might want to try Woodhouse Moor a.k.a. Hyde Park which is just a short bus ride away from the city centre. It is a popular green space amongst the residents and visitors that features grassy areas, pathways lined with trees, well-maintained gardens, and a peaceful ambience. It is definitely a nice park to go for a walk in, play some sports, or enjoy a picnic.

LEEDS KIRKGATE MARKET

Dating back to the 1820s, this market is a historic and vibrant market located in the city centre. The bustling market experience offers a variety of fresh goods such as meats, fish, baked goods, fruits and vegetables, as well as some household items, clothing and so on. The diverse products here enhance the multicultural experience that you don’t get in some cities. The prices of the goods do vary but if you’re one of those who prefer everything fresh, this is the place to be.

LEEDS ART GALLERY

This gallery is known for its impressive collection of modern and contemporary art and for hosting a range of exhibitions throughout the year. From drawings, paintings, and prints to sculptures, you will surely have a wonderful time here, especially for those art enthusiasts. Aside from that, students can definitely take advantage of the gallery’s educational facilities, library and shop to their heart’s content. The best thing about it is it’s free so you can go there as often as you want.

LEEDS CORN EXCHANGE

As one of the historic buildings in Leeds, the Leeds Corn Exchange is also a distinctive architectural landmark housing a variety of independent businesses, shops, and eateries. This place comes highly recommended all over the internet and it does not disappoint. If you are into some funky and niche items, this is the ultimate place for you.

There are certainly more places to explore in Leeds so don’t limit yourself to those that I’ve mentioned!
