My favourite spots to visit in Leeds
Hi there, I’m Jana, A 2nd year international student studying Creative Media Technology. In this blog I will be sharing some of my favourite places to visit in Leeds.
Shopping Centers
Although Leeds City Centre seems small, it still holds some great shopping centres including Trinity, The Corn Exchange, The Merrion Centre, Victoria, and St Johns Centre. My personal favourite has to be Trinity as it is right in the centre of Leeds and holds some great & essential stores such as Boots pharmacy, clothing stores such as Primark for great quality clothes at cheaper prices, lots of restaurants and cafes not to mention the food court, Everyman Cinema, and it even has a quiet study room that anyone can enter for free! If you ever find yourself in Trinity, go treat yourself to a boba drink from Cupp or a delicious crafted chocolate drink from Knoops.
Leeds Corn Exchange is another favourite place of mine. It is filled with different local stores surrounding a little café. Although it is a bit expensive as everything there is mostly handmade and local, I still like to go there every now and then just to visit Colours May Vary. It is a cute design store that always has something new to look at, whether it is a new design book, planner, poster, card, you name it!
There is also The Merrion Centre which I have talked about in my one of my other blogs. It holds every store you would need including Morrisons supermarket, Superdrug pharmacy & beauty store, Holland & Barrett, Ryman Stationary, and Home Bargains. It also holds lots of other great stores and many local and international restaurants.
Restaurants
What I love about Leeds is how diverse it is! So, you can always find a restaurant that will remind you of home. Below are some of my to go to restaurants:
- Crown Hot Pot for authentic Chinese hotpot!
- Dewan for delicious Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine.
- Bab Tooma for tasty middle eastern cuisine.
- Mogador for flavourful Moroccan cuisine
- Zaap Thai for delicious Thai cuisine.
- Indian Tiffin Room, Tamatanga, and Mylahore for mouth-watering South Asian cuisine.
Drinks and desserts
Tsujiri is a Japanese store that sells the best matcha drinks in Leeds! It also serves desserts and soft serves in seasonal flavours such as matcha, Sakura, and Black Sesame.
If you are a gelato fan, you have to try Amorino located in Victoria. It serves various delicious Italian gelato flavours that are arranged beautifully on your cone to look like a flower.
Haute Dolci is another great dessert shop located in the light. I recommend trying their waffles or chocolate-covered strawberries as they are the best in Leeds!
If you are a boba fan, check out Gong Cha in the Merrion Centre for delicious boba drinks.
If you are a chocolate fan, try CUP+LID’s hot chocolates. They are perfect for when it gets cold in Leeds, as they are nice and warm.
Things to do with friends
Kitty Café is such a lovely place to spend the afternoon with friends, you can enjoy a snack and a drink with the company of lovely little kittens and cats.
If you want to try something new, then why not visit Tadatuft and explore the world of tufting! I had so much fun there spending time with my friends, and we ended up with AMAZING mini rugs! Here is a pic of mine:
A relaxing end to a day
Leeds Dock is another favourite place of mine. It is always nice to have a walk around and check out what's new. If you are planning to go there, make sure to stop by north star coffee shop and nova bakery for delicious fresh baked bread and pastries and a good cup of coffee. You can also check Holdfast, Leeds dock’s first floating books and plants shop! If you are planning to go to the centre after visiting the dock, then why not hop on a water taxi to take you straight there.
I hope you enjoyed reading my blog where I shared with you some of my favourite places to visit in Leeds. If you go visit any of these places I mentioned I hope you have a good time like I do whenever I visit.
