A magical Leeds
My name is Jocelyn Koentjoro and today I’ll give you some tips about exploring Leeds during Christmas time.
Leeds has always been one of the best cities to explore during Christmas time. It’s known for its Christmas market during December. As an international student, this year, I got the opportunity to look around the city, and here I give some tips for you guys!
Christmas Markets
If you are interested in checking some Christmas markets to hang out with your friends, Leeds has several locations for that. It’s only open from Friday 22 November until Sunday 22 December 2024. Here are some locations that you can check:
- Millennium Square -
This part of the city has a very festive Christmas market with decorations around the market. Here you can find some unique crafts, food, and drink at a reasonable price in the stall! We can burn the marshmallow directly over an open flame with friends, try out lots of different food, and grab some drinks at the ski bar. For those who love attractions on the market, you can try the swing, skating rink, and other attractions there. In the end, you can buy some unique crafts as a souvenir. It’s like making your version of hanging ornaments with an adorable doll. - Leeds Art Gallery Museum -
Not far from the Millenium Square, you can check out another market here. You can try the famous mulled wine in this market, it’s very iconic during the Christmas time. After that you can try to ride the wheel of light, It’s amazing how you can see the city view from above. There are also many other attractions such as a carousel and other rides for kids there. When you’re done with the attraction, you can also check the Tipi’s bar here to grab some drink and chit-chat with your friends. - City Square -
Another Christmas market in town is located in the city square. The markets offer many food options, and you can buy some while walking around the area. There are some bars you can also try in the Christmas market, hanging around with some drink has never failed me, especially under the cold weather. Remember to take pictures under the huge Christmas tree on the square!
Christmas Lights and Decoration
Apart from the markets that we’ve already talked about, you can still feel the Christmas vibes all over the city! There will be a lot of Christmas trees and lights in some shopping centres and buildings. If you want to check out some places with beautiful Christmas trees, I recommend you to check out Trinity Leeds, John Lewis, and Corn Exchange. You can take pictures and save them for Christmas Day.
Overall, it’s been a great experience for me to explore Leeds during the Christmas time. Don’t keep yourself staying at home and have a Christmas tour around Leeds! Make sure to visit each Market in town and go with your friends. Hope these tips can help you to explore Leeds during Christmas time. Have a great Christmas and see you next year!
