TEDxLeedsBeckettUniversity COUNTDOWN

On November 23rd 2021, we hosted a TEDxLeedsBeckettUniversity COUNTDOWN event.

The event was focused on generating ideas and presenting work that our university community is doing to reduce our impact on the environment. It was a wonderful opportunity for networking and developing an understanding of sustainability in a range of university projects as we had a range of speakers from across the university.

Lucy Macdonald and Anna Crooks did a presentation on the refill store which is on our City Campus. Refill stores are a fantastic way to reduce food and packaging waste.

Mark Collett presented information on the work which is happening around the QUB building testing method.

Addressing the carbon emissions associated with heating buildings is a key component of national decarbonisation strategies and net-zero targets. This can only be done if we test our buildings' heat efficiency. The QUB method can drastically reduce the time it takes to carry out building tests.
