Transform Your Health: DXA Body Composition Scan, Expert Nutrition Advice, and Ongoing Progress Tracking

Have an initial DXA Body Composition Scan followed by a Nutrition Assessment to review your diet, set goals and then follow up with a repeat DEXA scan and further nutrition consultation to track your progress.

At your first appointment you will start with a body composition scan which will provide detailed and precise measurements of your body fat, lean mass and bone density. You will then meet with one of our Performance Nutritionists to review your results and look at your dietary intake.

We offer two packages:

Platinum

  2. Full Dietary Analysis (3 consults and a report)
  3. Follow up DXA Body Composition Scan

Platinum Package - Full Dietary Analysis

After your DXA scan you will attend an initial consultation (45-60 minutes), so that your nutritionist can understand your background information. You will be asked to keep a 4-7 day diet diary, which will then be analysed, and a written report produced for you to keep, which compares results of reported energy intake, carbohydrate, protein, fat and fluid to sport/exercise specific evidence-based guidelines and health recommendations. You will meet your nutritionist again to go through the findings presented in the report and set some goals (30-45 minutes). Once you have had chance to put these into practice, you will have a final DXA scan, and your nutritionist will follow up with you in a final consultation (up to 30 mins).

Gold Package - Diet MOT

You will be asked to keep a 4-7 day diet diary and bring it with you to your first 45-minute diet MOT consultation.

Following your first DXA scan, you will discuss some background information and your diet diary with your nutritionist. You will take away a check list and agree a few goals to work on.

You will then book a follow up consultation and DXA Body Composition scan to check your progress.

DXA Body Composition Scan

A body composition scan takes 10 -20 minutes. The scan involves lying on your back on a firm couch while a scanning arm passes over your body taking an image of the area being scanned.

As with x-rays, body composition scans use radiation. The level of radiation for a body composition scan is extremely low, about the same as what you are exposed to from a few days’ natural background radiation.

For the scan you will need

  • To wear minimal clothing and remove all metal and jewellery, so please bring a vest and shorts that you are happy to wear for the scan with no metal zips, clips, or fastenings.
  • To fast (do not eat) for at least four hours before the scan and be normally hydrated with water. That way, you will not have a big meal in your stomach, which could affect the results.
  • To not do heavy exercise, like a big run or a heavy workout prior to the scan.
  • To take all your medications as normal.

Fat loss – individuals aiming to achieve healthy levels of body fat, avoid muscle wastage, remain healthy and avoid injury.

Increase lean mass – the packages will provide information and support to aid you in building muscle mass and reach your ideal body composition goal.

Active individuals – the dietary analysis will help you determine if you are eating the right snacks and meals to fuel exercise. The DXA scan results will provide the information needed to adjust training and dietary needs to meet your body composition goals.

Diet MOT

This individualised consultation helps you identify changes that can be made to your current diet to help optimise your health and performance while supporting your weight management goals.

DXA Body Composition Scan

Results from your body composition scan can be used to track changes in body mass and how much fat you are losing/gaining compared to your total muscle mass. It also provides readings of visceral fat (how much fat an individual carries around their organs), a good indicator for increased risk of chronic disease.

Body composition scan results also give an indication of your bone mineral density, which is an indication of bone strength and fragility. This scan allows any issues to be flagged up for further investigation.
