This module will enable you to develop critical insight into the skills and competencies required for public health and health promotion practice, and to apply theoretical and methodological aspects of public health and health promotion to practice focusing on authentic work-related learning activities and experience
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
- Competently plan and understand how to commission and evaluate complex health promotion interventions which are underpinned by appropriate theory and evidence-based practice
- Critically appraise the skills and competencies needed for contemporary public health and health promotion practice and identify your own needs for professional development
- Critically appraise the potential role of practitioners as change catalysts, and;
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the skills and competencies for leadership, management and partnership working within public health and health promotion.

Professional Practice is aimed at professionals working in related allied-health professions fields as well as, for example, nursing, nutrition, policy, environmental health, and social work.
The module is delivered twice a year over 12 weeks. Once in Semester 1 (September to January) online via distance learning and once in Semester 2 (January to June) both in person and online via distance learning.
Assessment is by a 1000-word individual skills audit and professional development plan (worth 25%) and a written group bid of 2500 words (worth 75%).
The cost for this module is £1,000.
