Animations & Interaction

  • The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.

  • How do I turn off animations?
    Chrome

    Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

    Microsoft Edge

    There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

    Internet Explorer

    To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

    Firefox

    Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Module

The Applied Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills for Practices module is aimed at professionals working as counsellors or in the health and social care sector such as mental health workers, nurses, occupational therapists, dietitians and social workers, for example. The module aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the foundations of cognitive and cognitive behavioural approaches to working with people, as well as a reflexive understanding of a range of the theories and skills in practice.

The module will be delivered via distance learning and teaching methods which are mostly asynchronous, but some more reflective and experiential skills parts of the curriculum will require some synchronous delivery. Skills are practised in viva, peer and tutor feedback is provided. Teaching and learning activities are embedded into the Virtual Learning Environment, MyBeckett Ultra.

By completing this module, you are NOT training to become a fully qualified CBT therapist.

12 units of learning will be released weekly from end of January 2027

entry requirements

These modules are designed for practitioners working with health and social care clients. For admission to the module you will usually be required to provide evidence of the successful completion of 120 credits (or equivalent) at the appropriate level in a relevant area / discipline:

  • 120 credits at level 6 (BScH/BAH) for level 7 (masters) study

assessment

Students will be assessed against level 6 or level 7 academic criteria on a portfolio of evidence to include:

  • Level 7 - Written assignment consisting of a critical assessment of the evidence for CBT with the clients main problem (1000 words) and a reflective critical case study of the use of CBT skills with a client/service user (2000 words)
