This module is designed for professionals working in a wide range of settings to introduce trauma informed models and approaches. The module aims to increase knowledge and foster a critical understanding of trauma, using an ecological, systemic approach to explore the issue from different clinical models and perspectives.
The module benefits from a teaching team from a diverse range of backgrounds including counselling and psychotherapy, social work and mental health nursing, so this module will encompass a variety and breadth of perspectives.
The module aims are:
- To introduce students to trauma informed models and approaches for working with a range of clients and families including children, young people and adults. The module develops a critical understanding of key concepts, current debates and the evidence base
- To develop and apply trauma informed skills into the students’ areas of practice and critically reflect on the impact of the different types of trauma on an individual/family

The module runs in semester 2 and units of learning will be released across the 12 teaching weeks. MS Teams live sessions will be held on the following dates
