About the Programme
This programme has been designed to reflect the needs of the Graduate SEN practitioner working in applied settings, with the aim of supporting the development of specialist skills and competencies that underpin practice.
Through the application of mentoring and coaching techniques and effective supervision Graduate Practitioners will be encouraged and facilitated to develop their practice in line with the SENR Competency Framework by supporting further development of the core skills and knowledge required to be able to operate safely and effectively as a Full Practitioner Registrant of SENR. This will act as a supportive bridge for the journey to full registration and an opportunity for the trainee practitioners to develop their own toolkit for practice development.
The programme is taught by highly qualified and experienced practitioners and academic staff who have peer-reviewed published work.
The programme addresses the following core themes in the delivery of applied SEN:
- What is supervision/benefits of supervision/ethics of supervision
- Self-evaluation and professional development/the importance of career-long learning/personal growth and problem solving
- Developing reflective practice in supervision
- Understanding the service/delivery environment/influencing without power
- Understanding scope of practice/developing referral networks
- Principles of quality control and quality audit/record keeping
- Working within an ethical framework/professional relationships and behaviours
- Developing a professional network

Throwing the graduation cap marks the end of learning the 'what' - but stepping into practice demands the 'how'. The early stages of a sports nutrition career can feel daunting and overwhelming. The Advanced Certificate in Sports Nutrition Practice created a supportive environment for reflection, growth, and practical application - led by peers and mentors who understand this stage of the journey. My confidence, strategic thinking, and ability to problem solve real-world challenges have grown enormously. A huge thank you to Louise, Nigel, the guest practitioners, and my fellow peers for shaping such a meaningful experience.
