Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Welcome to the Graduate Development Programme

After a successful pilot in 2025, Leeds Beckett University and FinTech North are launching a bigger and better Graduate Development Programme in March 2026. This FinTech initiative equips graduates with practical skills and real industry insight — while giving employers direct access to fresh talent and innovative ideas.

The programme gave me the confidence to apply for roles in the FinTech sector and commit to making it happen. By the end, I knew I wanted a job in FinTech, and the Beckett Careers team played a huge part in helping me secure my role with Schroders.

FinTech is everywhere and stands for Financial Technology. It covers the digital tools that make money, payments, and financial services faster, easier, and more accessible. You already use FinTech every day without realising:

Paying with your phone or smartwatch.
Ordering groceries or clothes online and paying securely.
Using budgeting apps to track subscriptions or spending goals.
Sending money instantly to friends after a night out.
Using Klarna, Clearpay, or PayPal Pay in 3 for flexible shopping.
Booking appointments or classes with integrated payment apps.
Receiving notifications when your salary lands or a bill is due.
Using a travel card or app to tap in and out on buses or trains.

The FinTech Graduate Development Programme is a 6-week opportunity that helps Leeds Beckett graduates explore digital and financial technology careers, build confidence, and develop practical skills for the workplace. You’ll take part in workshops and hands-on activities up to 2 days per week, making it easy to fit around other commitments.

The programme is:

A duration of 6 weeks
Requires you to be available 1-2 days per week
Between March to April 2026

Please let us know your availability for the programme when you register your interest. There will be a mix of in-person sessions at either LBU campuses and the employer premises, and remote online sessions.

This programme is designed for recent Leeds Beckett University graduates from undergraduate courses who are curious about FinTech and excited to explore new career opportunities. Whatever subject you studied, you’re welcome to apply.

You don’t need prior experience or technical knowledge in FinTech. If you’re someone who enjoys learning, likes solving problems, or simply wants to understand how technology is shaping the financial world, then this programme is a great fit for you!

The course is ideal for graduates who are:

Looking to build confidence and understand new career options
Underemployed, unemployed, working part‑time, self‑employed or exploring their next steps
Interested in developing practical skills and learning directly from industry professionals
Keen to gain hands‑on experience through live projects and real challenges
Curious about digital innovation and how tech is transforming finance
