The Leeds Business School annual lecture series invites industry experts, leading business figures and entrepreneurs to speak on a range of subjects that affect businesses including leadership, marketing and finance.
Pauline Dawes is Managing Director of SOMI Trailers, an innovative space-saving trailer company with the potential to take 1 in 4 trucks off the road.
Pauline has over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, including as a Director for a group storing one million tonnes of food across the UK. A school leaver at 15, she returned to education in her 30s, enrolling at Cambridge University followed by a full time MBA at Manchester Business School. Here, she made it to the final six of the UK MBA of the year award.
The innovation behind SOMI Trailers allows goods to be transported more efficiently by better using the space between the wheels. The SOMI Project has won Pauline the UK Women in Innovation Award in 2016, the Jaguar Land Rover Innovation Award and the IGD Supply Chain Excellence Award, amongst many others.
In 2022, Pauline’s paper on New Trailer Design represented the UK at the HVTT (Heavy Vehicle Transport Technology) Global Forum in China.
