A practical, hands-on workshop designed for business leaders delivered by Dr Alan Shaw – Founder of Strategic Planet (a digital transformation agency), Chair of X-PERT Health (a diabetes charity), and academic at Leeds Beckett University.

Agenda

 Part 1: The productivity engine (hands-on deep dive)

Your Task: You'll be given a dense, 5-page market analysis report.

Your AI Tool: Using a leading Large Language Model, you will learn the prompts to instantly:

  • Distill it into a 3-bullet-point executive summary
  • Identify the top 3 commercial opportunities and potential risks
  • Draft a concise email to your leadership team outlining the strategic takeaways.
 Part 2: The innovation accelerator (hands-on deep dive)

Your Task: You'll work on a mock go-to-market plan for a new product.

Your AI Tools: Using both a language and an AI image generator, you will:

  • Create a detailed customer persona for your ideal target buyer
  • Generate ten distinct marketing slogans and a social media post
 Part 3: Your strategic roadmap (action planning)  Your Task: We will guide you through our "Explore, Pilot, Launch" framework.

Your Output: You will leave with a documented, step-by-step plan for your first 90 days of AI adoption.


Dr Alan Shaw is a part-time academic with experience in digital transformation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and social listening. He runs a consultancy business (Strategic Planet) and is also the Chairman of X-PERT Health, a diabetes charity.

Alan is experienced in systems and process design. He recently ran an Economic and Social Research Council-funded project, teaching businesses in the Yorkshire and Humberside region how to use Generative AI. He also teaches businesses about digital adoption through the Help to Grow initiative - a UK government program designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in boosting their productivity, growth, and digital capabilities.
