Saunter co sunglasses

David Winter - Saunter

Saunter is a brand concept born from the passion of technology, streetwear and the outdoors. This project is based around the creation of assets in order to deliver a new and captivating marketing strategy for fashion brands to incorporate into brand campaigns. Among creating a brand identity through the means of a brand guidelines document and a fully prototyped UX app design for an e-commerce app. I had created a 3D runway, a virtual store, a product try on AR filter and a product reveal AR filter. By doing this it provided possible users to be captivated by the fully immersive world of Saunter.

Piano keys

Dawid Wonjo – Curtain Call

Set in the difficult and unpredictable 1930s, Curtain Call is a recreation of the Michigan Ann Arbor Theatre. Visualised in Unreal Engine, Dawid Wonjo describes the project’s focus on texturing with complex details around the ceiling and stage. “I wanted to challenge my modelling and texturing skills with the organ prop and ornamental borders around the stage. The lighting in this scene has also been very different to anything I've done before. In general, I've never learnt so much in such a short amount of time. This has been an amazing venture into the depths of Environment Art and I'm extremely excited to see what the future holds for me.”

Female in an orange dress playing music in front of the sun

Oscar Street - Dharmapunk

The Art of Dharmapunk is a ‘world bible’ that combines a fictional compendium full of world-building with a visual development portfolio entailing the thought process behind many design solutions.

The compendium focuses on the land of Sambhala, designed upon a unique genre and setting where you will find early thumbnail sketches, storyboards, studies and illustrations, all backed by lore writing and design notes that bring the insight behind the iterations.

Divided into five chapters, you will find the ‘blue sky’ stage of the production, a delve into the two opposing forces known as the Devic clans and the Untouchables, an abundance of technologies, and a compiled history of the many elements of Dharmapunk.

Witness the evolution of the cycle of research and iteration as many techniques of ideation and artistic technique are explored and refined, defining visual briefs that hold all of these concepts together and make way for a vast potent of stories to be told through visuals alone.

Whilst there are many ideas that never saw the light of day, this world bible upholds itself as a foundation for future productions and the further developments of a fresh genre that celebrates Dharmic cultures and the wonders of sci-fantasy.

Arch in front of mountain and sun

Max Guymer – Soul Harbour

Max Guymer describes his final year project as a steep learning curve. "Soul Harbour is my response to learn a vastly different engine to what I was comfortable with and learn about modular world building. My favourite part about this project has been the technical issue and problem-solving aspect as once I learned how to properly bake lighting and setup material nodes in Unreal Engine, the result was incredibly satisfying and looked great, it's for this reason that I'm still working on this project beyond the scope of it being a university module, I've still got a lot of world building clutter, vegetation and decal work to do, as well re-doing my landscape texturing so it looks a lot more realistic."

Graffiti on wall in urban area

Harry Taylor - Terminal

Terminal is a 3D cinematic environment art project created in Unreal Engine 5. With main inspirations coming from games such as The Last of Us series and The Division, the project depicts an abandoned Manhattan city street, loosely referenced from 14th Street and 2nd Avenue. Harry was specifically interested in urban decay: “I wanted to create a dark and abnormal atmosphere in the scene, highlighting how an urban area would ultimately lose a battle with nature. The project was a personal opportunity to develop my technical skills in creating realistic game environments, learning industry-standard processes in PBR material authoring and high-poly modelling.”

An animated figure wearing a green top in a purple and blue house

Underground corridor with red tinge and "RIP" written on wall

Lucas Creighton - Underground

Underground is Lucas Creighton’s final 3D project for the Production Project module which he named to be the most fun module on the Bsc Games Design course. “My aim was to create a corridor, in an evacuated military bunker. I attempted to use all the knowledge and skills I've gained through my time at Leeds Beckett and really push myself to create an industry standard piece of work. Throughout the module, I got feedback from industry personnel which was really insightful to see how they would improve my work and what changes they themselves would make. Through the different iterations, came a final environment I was happy with and feel it meets the aims I set for myself at the beginning of the project.”
