This work is inspired by powerful women and the female experience, both those throughout history and those we currently know. The work is a varied  collection of site-specific performances happening throughout the week that all form part of an overall performance piece. Pay attention. We are everywhere.

For this work  we have focused heavily on the black  female body and how it is perceived in different dance environments and contexts. Collectively we have incorporated contemporary dance and afro-fusion dance techniques. Throughout  the  making  process  we  have  considered  "The  gaze  of  the audience,  the  desire  and  pleasure  of  both  the  female  performer  and  the audience". (Adair1992).

‘The Confined Body’ is an exploration between bodies in space. The work encapsulates the struggle with confinement and restraint, and the journey the dancers take in order to adapt and overcome this restriction,  developing  different  relationships  between  space  and body, and body and body, to become one interchanging object.
