Professor Fred Coalter - Sport for development: from fuzzy snapshots to clear video

Drawing on his research in the UK, Nairobi and Mumbai, Professor Coalter will illustrate the need to move beyond the ‘black box’, evangelical view of ‘sport’ to understand better what conditions and mechanisms are necessary for participation in ‘sport for development’ programmes to have beneficial outcomes. To illustrate his argument, he will explore the apparently paradoxical statement that ‘there is nothing as practical as a good theory’
