Waddingtons Board Games at the Discovery Centre

Waddingtons remains one of the most famous companies to have developed in Leeds. Starting as a printer making theatre posters and growing through the manufacture of playing cards to become a global giant in designing board games, this illustrated talk will take you through their remarkable history.

Almost every home in the UK has a copy of Monopoly or Cluedo but did you know about their role in helping British POWs in World War Two to escape? Come and learn more and get to look at some of the remarkable collection of original board games held in the Discovery Centre of Leeds City Museums and Art Galleries.

The talk will be given by Professor Robert Shail of the Leeds School of Arts at Leeds Beckett University.
