Obesity Institute's World Obesity Day 2025
The Obesity Institute will be hosting a World Obesity Day online event, focusing on Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and the impact of PPIE.

The event will begin with welcome and opening remarks from Ken Clare, Obesity Insitutue PPIE Lead, who will introduce the significance of promoting PPIE in obesity awareness and advocacy.

Following this, Allie Welsh will lead a session on "The Power of PPIE," explaining the motivation behind the creation of a new suite of PPIE training videos and their role in enhancing PPIE practice.

Next, Louisa Ells will address the critical issue of bullying and stigma, presenting an impactful anti-bullying video “Every body deserves kindness”. She will discuss the importance of tackling stigma and fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals affected by obesity.

The event will conclude with a live Q&A session, moderated by Ken, where attendees will have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion, share insights, ask questions, and reflect on key takeaways from the presentations.

This event aims to highlight the importance of patient and public involvement, the empowering, advocacy, and the need for continued efforts in addressing weight stigma.

The Obesity Institute at Leeds Beckett University brings together academics from a range of disciplines across the university with policy makers, practitioners, and people living with or at risk of obesity and their families and carers, to coproduce innovative person-centred advances in obesity locally, nationally and internationally.
