This will be an overview of the research being carried out by the research team comprised of Brendan Gough, Michael Kehler and Gabriel Knott-Fayle. They are researching how men who have taken part in naked photoshoots as part of a charitable project for the promotion of healthier masculinities and allyship make sense of their identities as men and allies as well as their relationships with their own and others' bodies.
Providing some very preliminary insights from an ongoing ethnography of the photoshoots as well as some findings developed from our interviews with ten men who have participated in the shoots. The researchers findings explore how men can and do engage in transformative activities around doing masculinity but remain constrained by, and themselves propagate, many conventions of masculinity in the process.
