Building Trust with Customers in an Age of Digital Media Noise
In this Research-To-Practice Seminar Series we present new research findings from one of Leeds Beckett’s PhD scholars on digital avatars.

This talk uses live experiences, and especially digital performances, to understand how we navigate an era where media has become infinite, editable, and endlessly reproducible. Cases like the ABBA Voyage concert and more are deconstructed to reorient our understanding of media technologies where lifelike images are often indistinguishable between the real and the fabricated.

The challenge is not only technological but also perceptual. Consumers are overwhelmed by abundance and uncertainty, and the value of authenticity becomes harder to define yet more deeply desired. Our speaker shows how brands and consumers can interact confidently amidst such complexity and how you can build trust as a currency to keep your customers.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Apply media designing principles in your businesses/personal cases
  • Build trust with customers within the infinite media landscape
  • Understand the shifting context of the media landscape

With a background in business management, Naf has worked extensively in the live entertainment space for nearly two decades, particularly in the capacity of a transnational entrepreneur. His work includes developing several live music IPs, managing and scaling a major artist portfolio, and running a live production studio. He has also worked as an entertainment consultant for various multinational companies, including for Telenor to launch two flagship streaming services.

Naf explores cutting-edge technologies and narrative designs applied to live experiences, and is currently finalising his PhD research on avatars in live experiences at Leeds Beckett University’s Events, Tourism, and Hospitality Management department, and he delivers lectures in live experience design within academic and industry settings.
