Dr Agnieszka Rydzik - Flexi and Fair: Making zero hour contract hospitality jobs work for student workers and employers
Dr Agnieszka Rydzik presents her research on the working lives of student-workers on zero-hour contracts in UK hospitality.

This presentation explores how to make zero hour contracts work for student workers and employers.

Dr Rydzik discusses the policy and practical implications arising from the study for a range of stakeholders and what could be done to mitigate negative aspects of zero-hour contract work for student-workers, while informing the industry’s attempts to meet key challenges, such as labour shortages, staff turnover and worker wellbeing.

The School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management is pleased to host these open access seminars showcasing insightful and thought provoking research from renowned international scholars.

The seminars are of interest to academics, researchers and students. All are welcome.

Dr Agnieszka Rydzik’s (University of Lincoln, UK) research focuses on tourism and hospitality employment, precarisation of work, worker agency, social justice and the future of work.

Her work has been published in leading journals, including Annals of Tourism Research, Work, Employment and Society, and Journal of Sustainable Tourism.

Dr Rydzik is the Director of Research in the Department of Marketing, Languages and Tourism in the Lincoln International Business School, chair of the Lincolnshire Tourism Observatory and leads the Visitor Economy Research Group.
