It will outline the project’s aims and methods, discuss its complex, youth-centred ethical approach within clinical settings, and the creative process of how the VR worlds were developed. The presentation will share selected stories and virtual worlds created by participants, reflecting on insights gained, and the benefits of co-designing immersive story worlds with young people in hospitals.
The Creative Arts and Health Research Lab (CAHREL) is based at Leeds Arts Research Centre (LARC) at Leeds Beckett University. Led by Professor Persephone Sextou in partnership with culture, arts and healthcare organisations globally, CAHREL aims to improve people’s lives, especially, children, young people, and their families in relation to health, wellbeing, mental health/illness, lived experience, social inclusion, co-design and co-production and social arts prescribing.
