The Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society works to create sporting environments that are safe, inclusive, and healthy environments for all participants, and that are free of abuse, discrimination, and misconduct. They recognise that sporting contexts present particular risks to the safety of its participants. In recent times, there have been a number of high-profile reports of misconduct across sports, and research suggests that there is a further increase in risk of abuse and harassment at elite levels of sport.
To challenge this, sport requires a more transformational and multidisciplinary approach towards ending the damaging impact of abuse and violence on individuals and organisations. The purpose of our workshop day will be to reimagine safety in sport, to place a greater focus on tackling the systemic and cultural issues that lie at the heart of abuse and discrimination, and create new mechanisms and systems to uphold welfare in sport.
We invite you to join us for the day and participate in parallel workshops and sessions that sit across our four centre themes, focusing on trauma-informed delivery and practice, legal reform, leadership, cultures and systems, and people. Join the The Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society to reimagine safe sport.
