This session will discuss the concept of cultural intelligence and how this helps managers.
Overview
Cultural intelligence is the ability to relate and work effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds. During this workshop you will learn how to bridge cultural gaps, gain different cultural insights and achieve fruitful intercultural working relations.
Session Objectives
- Gain an understanding of the impact of major similarities and differences in cultures
- Learn how similarities and differences can impact communication styles and working relationships
- Be better able to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers within multinational working environments
Speaker
This session will be delivered by Sujana Shafique, a senior lecturer in accounting at Leeds Business School.
After completing BBA and MBA majoring in Finance, Sujana worked in the industry as Finance Manager for a number of years, completing professional accounting qualification (ACCA).
She then moved to academia and joined Leeds Beckett University as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting. She has also taught at the University of York and Sheffield Hallam University as Associate Lecturer. Sujana also has experience of teaching overseas and has taught in India and China.
Sujana is a member of the widening participation in higher education committee and is subject group representative in Leeds Business School academic committee.
