Emily Campbell is a Great Britain Olympic weightlifter. Born in Nottingham in 1994, she graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2016 with a degree in Sport & Exercise Science. Her journey into weightlifting began at university, where she fell in love with the sport as part of her training for shot and hammer throwing.
Emily made history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, becoming the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in weightlifting, earning silver in the +87kg category. She followed this with a bronze medal at Paris 2024, and has claimed five consecutive European titles, a feat unmatched by any other British female weightlifter. Emily has also won Commonwealth gold in Birmingham 2022 and World Championship silver in Bogota 2022. In 2025, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by Leeds Beckett University in recognition of her sporting achievements and advocacy for inclusion.
