Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Lois Forsell

BA (Hons) Sports Development Performer & Practitioner: Rugby League

Lois Forsell is a rugby league coach and former international player. She played for Hunslet, Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos Women, earning accolades including a historic treble with Bradford in 2017 and captaining Leeds Rhinos to Challenge Cup victory in their inaugural season. Lois made 18 appearances for England, which included two World Cups (2013 and 2017). After retirement from playing, Lois transitioned into coaching, becoming Head Coach of Leeds Rhinos Women in 2020 and later Head Coach for England Women's Knights, before her current position as England Women’s Assistant Coach.

Beyond the pitch, she has championed the sport as a development officer for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, was the RFL’s first Women’s Player Ambassador, and is a role model and driving force for the growth of women’s rugby league.

Lois Forsell, studied at Leeds Beckett University. I got Sport Development BA honours and I played for Leeds Rhinos Women. Bradford Bulls before that, won the treble with Bradford Bulls, played for Leeds Rhinos Women, their first ever signing and captain representing England in two World Cups, Got 18 caps and now the current coach of Leeds Rhinos Women's squad.

Obviously a little bit shocked. It's really nice to be recognised as a former student, but just a nice time to sort of look back fondly on the time that you've had at Leeds Beckett and the support that they've given you along the way from when you were studying here but also post studying into your career.

It's just so good to have a university that's so well-resourced to support teams, to support athletes at the time of their studies. I was thinking about it earlier, I look back on my time studying and there was never an issue with, you know, being out the country, being on training camps, all the staff and the university really, really supported me to make sure that I could achieve my goals on the field. And then looking to now, obviously I still link in with a lot of the members of staff here in my role as head coach and working with England as well as Leeds. So still a lot of crossover and it just shows the strong partnerships at the university it has with a lot of sporting bodies.

Yeah, obviously there's so many amazing sportswomen and males that have come to Leeds Beckett university. So to be recognised amongst them is, you know, obviously a bit of a pinch yourself moment, but it's just great to be in a room with them and recognising their achievements as well as mine.

I think, advice would be to believe in yourself if you think that further education is something that you want to do. I think that it gave me a space to feel confident and valued. I think I never really saw myself as being an academic, but to say that I've come out of, the only person in my family to come and get university degree is something I'm really proud of. But I think that, you know, Leeds Beckett will really support you to achieve your potential. And the best thing about it for me was that it supported me as an athlete as well. So if they're interested in sport, there's probably not much better. Well, there's no better place to come and study.
