Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Leeds Beckett celebrates success in student review awards

Leeds Beckett has been named Yorkshire's number one university for facilities, teaching quality, careers support and post-grad experience in a national survey of student feedback.

The 2025 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) named Leeds Beckett 3rd overall in the county, 29th in England, and among the top 5 in the country for international students.

The awards, which are based entirely on thousands of unbiased student reviews, reflect real experiences and feedback across twelve categories.

This follows a strong performance in other rankings based on real student surveys and reviews, with Leeds Beckett a top 30 university in the National Student Survey 2024 and 14th in England in the Student Crowd Awards - which also named Leeds the best city for students.

Professor Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University, said: "This is another extremely welcome endorsement from our students. Our strong performance in awards and ranking based on real student feedback is particularly encouraging, and the result of a relentless focus on providing an excellent education and engaging, inclusive student experience.

"Thank you to all the students who shared their views. We value this feedback and will use it to continue improving."

Leeds Beckett's strong national placing came thanks to students highlighting the supportive staff, engaging course content and range of placement and career opportunities. The central location, modern campus environment, and social culture also contributed to the strong rankings.

The university also ranked highly in areas such as student life (2nd in Yorkshire, 20th nationally), student support, halls, and the overall experience.

These results reinforce the university's ongoing commitment to student satisfaction, high-quality teaching, and preparing graduates for future success. Thank you to our students for their honest input to help guide our vision for the future of Leeds Beckett University.
