Guest lecture to inspire sports event managers of the future
Chris, who has worked for the FA for seven years, was pivotal in planning and delivering the first England Women's football game at the new Wembley Stadium. He spoke about the importance of event planning and the organisation of various international tournaments at the home of English football, St George’s Park in Staffordshire, sharing his breadth of knowledge and experience in working in event operations and logistics.
Alicia Rangolam, final year BSc (Hons) Sports Events Management student, said: “The lecture was the best guest lecture I have ever attended and really inspired me to want to pursue a career in sports operations. It also highlighted how the theory we learn in lectures and seminars is applied in a practical way in the working environment. I am now very excited to graduate and try to create my own pathway into sports operations.”
Chris added: “I really enjoyed the session today at Leeds Beckett University; the students were really engaged and appreciative. It’s been great to make contact with course staff over the past year and have the opportunity to come and speak to students who have ambitions of working towards a career in Sport Event Management. To give them an insight into the Football Association, my approach to event planning and my personal experiences has been really rewarding for me personally and I hope it has helped the students too.”
