Student Showcase goes live on Big Screen
The showcase will be broadcast on the last Tuesday of the month at 15:30 and will present an exciting snapshot of creative work produced by students across a range of courses at Beckett University. The launch will be on 1 March and the showcase, lasting half an hour, will feature BA and MA courses in Broadcast Media, Graphics, Art and Design, Fine Art, Photography and Photo Journalism.
Leeds Beckett University is working in partnership with Leeds City Council to create dynamic content for the newly branded Leeds Big Screen, situated in the heart of the city centre.
Paul Footit, Events Manager at Leeds City Council and the council’s lead for the Leeds Big Screen, said: “I’m delighted that we are showcasing students work on the screen. It’s truly in the spirit of the partnership to provide students across the city the opportunity to demonstrate their talents to a wider audience and likewise to connect the residents of Leeds to the creative energy of our student population and celebrate their achievements.”
The Leeds Big Screen already delivers a wide range of content throughout the year, from local news and sport to major national cultural events. Under the new agreement, Leeds Beckett will draw on its extensive partnerships across business and the community to deliver additional innovative content, though content is also welcomed from the wider community.
The Big Screen will also be used to support Leeds City Council’s Vision for Leeds by showcasing content linked to the key priorities of health and wellbeing, children and young people, communities and business as well as supporting Leeds’s ambition to become the best city to live in the UK.
Live content, particularly relating to significant local, regional, national and international events, usually of a sporting and cultural nature, will continue to be broadcast on the Big Screen. Use #LeedsBigScreen for your tweets to appear on the screen.
